French Shop Counter or Bar with Zinc Top

A painted shop counter or bar made in France in the 1920s, ready for a new life in your home. The top is made of zinc, which has been heavily used and worn over time. Years of scratching and etching combine with a unique patina to create a nicely varied surface. The base is made from pine, which is painted golden yellow, and it shows similar signs of age and wear. On the front are two panels with diamonds and circular pendants at their centers. The back reveals a row of three drawers that open smoothly with ebonized turned wood knobs. Beneath them is an open interior of unpainted pine with a single fixed shelf measuring 9 ⅝” deep. The piece rests on a plinth base with an ebonized painted finish to match the drawer knobs. Gently cleaned and ready for use in your interiors. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering the age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
