Gustavian Style Painted Sideboard with Reeded Doors, circa 1900
-
Description
A stately Gustavian-style sideboard from Sweden, likely dating to the early 20th century. This piece features four paneled doors, each adorned with vertical reeded detailing, a hallmark of the Gustavian aesthetic that brings rhythm and texture to the facade.
The painted finish, a deep black with warm undertones, has been intentionally distressed to reveal hints of the natural pine beneath, creating a beautifully aged patina. The cabinet is framed by carved corner rosettes and fluted pilasters, with a molded cornice and a raised base on tapered legs.
Inside, ample storage makes this an ideal piece for dining rooms, entryways, or living spaces that call for understated elegance with functional depth. Crafted in solid pine, the sideboard blends neoclassical formality with the rustic charm of Swedish craftsmanship. It’s a timeless and versatile anchor for both traditional and transitional interiors.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
