Description
This antique rustic wooden cabinet, dating to around 1900, is crafted from solid wood and reflects a direct, hand-worked approach to construction. The sides retain a subtly organic contour, suggesting the use of minimally processed timber, while the surface shows visible tool marks and a deep, naturally developed patina. A single door, fitted with simple hand-forged iron hardware and a carved wooden handle, opens to an interior with a fixed shelf, intended for practical storage.
The cabinet exemplifies vernacular craftsmanship, where function and available material determined the form. Irregularities in shape, grain, and surface are integral to the piece, giving it a sculptural quality that aligns with wabi-sabi sensibilities. Its compact proportions make it versatile as a storage cabinet, pantry, or side piece. All our rustic furniture has undergone a two-cycle woodworm treatment for preventive protection. -
