Description
Mid-Century Modern Gentleman’s Chest was realized by the esteemed maker John Stuart Inc. in the United States, circa 1950. The piece presents a refined rectilinear form, featuring a subtle rectangular panel incised into the front, an angular, gently cantilevered top, and tapered cylindrical legs that adjoin the body with distinctive joints — all finished in a stunning silver cerused oak that highlights the natural woodgrain in silver against a gray ground. The sliding doors open to reveal a thoughtfully organized interior of divided shelving, trays, and compartments, originally conceived to store garments, accessories, and personal effects with precision and ease. With its sophisticated finish and clean modernist lines, this Gentleman’s Chest is as functional as it is visually compelling, blending seamlessly with interiors ranging from classic Mid-Century Modern to contemporary. It has been newly restored to mint condition and retains its original label reading "John Stuart Inc." on the back, along with maker's marks.
