Description
A fine and elegant nightstand / bedside table / side table, crafted in Italy in the 1940s and attributed to Gio Ponti / La Permanente Mobili Cantù. The body of the table is made of maple, topped with a glass surface with rounded corners, secured by brass fasteners. The nightstand features a storage compartment with a drop-down door, decorated with a beautiful quartered walnut veneer pattern and a delicate, gracefully curved brass handle. A truly refined piece of furniture, rich in charming details—as clearly visible in the photos. In very good condition. Width: 22.5“, depth: 14“, height: 22"
La Permanente Mobili Cantù was an influential Italian furniture cooperative based in Cantù, known for combining skilled craftsmanship with refined mid-century design. Throughout the mid-20th century it collaborated with leading designers such as Gio Ponti, Ico Parisi, Cesare Cassina, Paolo Buffa and Osvaldo Borsani, whose creative input helped define its elegant aesthetic. The cooperative brought together local artisans and designers to produce high-quality furniture using fine woods and sophisticated detailing, making its pieces highly regarded in Italian modern design history. -
