Small Italian Louis XV Period Curved Chest of Drawers in Walnut, 18th Century

Elegant small Italian chest of drawers crafted in walnut and walnut veneer during the Louis XV period, second half of the 18th century. The piece is distinguished by its refined proportions and graceful serpentine form, curved on three sides in true Rococo fashion. It stands on four slender cabriole legs and opens with two shaped drawers decorated with delicate walnut marquetry framing reserves of beautifully figured burl walnut.

The drawers are constructed in the Italian manner on a fir and oak carcass and retain their original working locks with key. Matching marquetry decoration continues along the curved sides, demonstrating careful cabinetmaking and balanced design typical of fine Italian production of the period. The top is fitted with a shaped marble surface, complementing the warmth of the wood.

Compact yet highly decorative, this chest functions equally well as a bedside table or accent piece. Rich patina and age-appropriate wear consistent with the 18th century.
