Description
A Swedish Rococo style painted wood chest from the early 20th century, with two drawers, carved apron and cabriole legs. Created in Sweden during the first quarter of the 20th century, this painted chest features a rectangular top with bow front, sitting above two thin drawers. The drawers are fitted with brass Rococo style hardware and showcase a dovetail construction revealing the piece's age. The chest is raised on four elegant cabriole legs connected to one another through a beautifully carved apron in the front. The sides and back are sans décor. The ensemble is painted in a soft color typical of the Swedish taste for light palettes aiming at brightening the rooms during the long and dark Scandinavian winters. With its graceful lines and subtle décor, this Swedish Rococo style two-drawer chest circa 1920 will make for a wonderful addition to any home, whether placed in a bedroom or living room.
