Ribbon Vitrine Model 7711 by Vladimir Kagan

Lighted Ribbon Vitrine model 7771 designed by Vladimir Kagan for Vladimir Kagan Designs, 1970s. Acquired from the Fred Grossberg estate who was personal friends with Vladimir and his wife Erica. The vitrine is constructed of Zebrano wood, glass, acrylic and sits on a chrome plated steel base.
Vladimir Kagan was an American furniture designer known for his contributions to Midcentury modern design. His work focused on comfort and functionality using upholstery, wrought iron, cast aluminum, and organically sculpted wood. Born in 1927 in Worms, Germany, Kagan moved to New York, United States. He studied at the School of Industrial Art and Columbia University in New York. Kagan passed away in 2016. His works have been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art. He received numerous accolades, including the Museum of Modern Art Good Design Award, the Pinnacle Award from the American Society of Furniture Designers, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Furniture Designers, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Product Design Award from the American Society of Interior Designers, and the Artist Visionary Award from the Museum of Arts and Design.
