Description
A refined 19th-century Swedish tilt-top table embodying the restrained elegance of the Gustavian period. The circular top rests on a gracefully turned pedestal support terminating in three shaped legs, creating a balanced silhouette that is both architectural and light in presence.
The tilt-top mechanism allows the surface to be displayed vertically when not in use, a practical feature characteristic of Scandinavian design, originally intended to maximize space while protecting the tabletop. The painted surface shows age-appropriate wear consistent with antique use, contributing to the table’s authenticity and soft patina.
Versatile in scale, the piece functions equally well as a side table, occasional dining table, or decorative accent within both traditional and contemporary interiors. Its clean lines and understated proportions reflect the Swedish interpretation of neoclassical design—elegant, functional, and timeless.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
