Antique Parisian Neoclassical Style Side Table by Au Gros Chêne
French, late 19th Century
Height 75cm, width 90cm, depth 59cm
This elegant oval shaped side table is designed in the late 19th Century French Neoclassical style, retailed by Parisian firm Au Gros Chêne. It features subtle cabriole legs, with scrolled ormolu sabots and foliate mounts to the shoulders. The table top features a chevron veneered pattern, with a protective glass covering overlaid on top. The apron of the table features a large frieze drawer with ormolu handles.
Au Gros Chêne were a popular Parisian furniture firm. Today, the site of 12 Rue Drouot where they were situated is occupied by the large auction house Hotel Drouot.
