Condition: Very good vintage condition.
A Belgian ceramic tile top coffee table (signed), Belgium circa 1960s. This narrow coffee table features a black painted steel frame inset with 44 handmade metallic glazed ceramic tiles in a simple grid. Each tile is unique and measures approximately 4" square. The tiles are glazed in various sophisticated muted tones of browns and dark grays. The metallic glazes look like hematite and have a dark grayish silvery quality. Some tiles are matte with glossy metallic glaze and other are fully glossy metallic. This is a truly incredible / striking coffee table! Reminiscent of tiled works by Jules Dewaele, Pia Manu, Rogier Vandeweghe, Roger Capron and Georges Jouve. This table is signed to the underside with the letters LDM. Unknown artist / designer. -

Origin: Belgium Period: 1950-1979 Materials: Glazed Ceramic, Painted Steel Condition: Good. Very good vintage condition. General wear from age and use. No chips or cracks to the tiles. Minor wear to the tile surface. A few areas of paint loss / rubbing to the edges of the black painted steel legs. Additional photos upon request.
