Description
This console table, attributed to the production of Fratelli Dassi, is a fine example of post-war Italian modernist design.
Sculptural geometric shape: the overall structure is strongly geometric, with an interplay of trapeziums and rounded corners giving it a dynamic and elegant appearance. The central body is tapered downwards, with a base reminiscent of a stylised pedestal.
Shaped mirror: the mirror is large, with an inverted trapezoidal shape that echoes the lines of the underlying structure. Framed in wood, it is perfectly integrated with the cabinet.
Bold colouring: the cabinet is coated in a warm orange-red lacquer, which enhances the scenic presence of the piece. This tone was typical of the boldest design of the 1950s.
Brass elements: the shelf and front support are finished in golden brass, which creates an elegant colour and material contrast with the wooden body. The brass lends a touch of luxury and sophistication.
Compact functionality: despite its small size, the console offers a sloping shelf surface and a small storage compartment, making it ideal for the entrance hall or as a storage point in sophisticated settings. -
