Dining Table in Mahogany, Rosewood and Brushed Brass, Italy 1960s
-
Description
This Italian dining table from the 1960s stands out for its architectural design and choice of materials. Let's start with the frame that is characterized by a number of striking details. The round feet are made of brass and are adjustable by simply turning them to level the table. On the top of these feet, we see that they are decorated with rosewood caps. From here, the sturdy brass frame continues to the middle. The crossbeam and the rest of the frame are lifted just a few centimeters from the floor due to the adjustable feet and are decorated with nine rosewood blocks clamped around the beam. From the bottom of the frame, which moreover consists entirely of brushed brass, we direct our gaze to the upright legs. Two shapely wings made of beautiful rosewood adorn each leg. These wooden parts clamp onto the frame and give this table its original and elegant look. A beautiful and stately lacquered mahogany wood top rests on this special frame. The top is completely finished with a facet edge and carries a pleasant patina. The different types of materials go into a wonderful combination with each other and, together with the design, ensure that this is not your average dining table. We have recently restored this table preserving the patina and vintage look and feel.
