Description
A great example of an unusual tiered coffee table with its 3/8ths inch glass set on a chrome rod asymetric base from the 1960s.
A minimalist frame with a sun centered filigree of cast aluminum .75 inch thick that is organic in its design
A quintessential piece of mid-century modern design, this cast aluminum coffee table by Donald Drumm was produced in collaboration with Gallery 10, a prominent New York-based design gallery known for showcasing innovative and collectible modern furniture in the 1960s.
Donald Drumm was an American artist and designer celebrated for his pioneering work in aluminum casting and lightweight furniture.
His avant-garde approach combined artistry with industrial technique, creating sculptural yet functional pieces that challenged conventional design norms.
Drumm’s work is characterized by organic, fluid forms and a refined sense of craftsmanship, making his pieces highly sought after today.
Gallery 10, founded in the early 1960s, was a key hub for contemporary avant-garde art and design, supporting innovative creators like Drumm and helping to shape the American modernist movement.
Their collaboration produced pieces that seamlessly blend art and furniture, exemplifying the spirit of experimentation and craftsmanship of the era.
This cast aluminum coffee table stands as a testament to Drumm’s artistic mastery and Gallery 10’s forward-thinking vision, making it a coveted addition to a vintage modern collection.
A great surface of camo green original paint that has been weathered over the last 60 years.
The glass top is 25.5" square .375" thick of tempered glass that Donald Drumm's studio advised us as the proper replacement. for its long missing misplaced original glass top
