Description
These three shallow solid walnut side tables were designed for a dining room and built to three different widths for exact placement in front of wall panelling. The legs each have rounded (5/8"R) outside corners and a chamfer detail running up the other two visible, adjacent corners to the level of the aprons. The aprons have a 5 degree bevel on their outside faces creating a distinctive juncture where they join to the legs (see detail images). The top has a 1/4" reveal removed from the underside of its edges. This creates an elegant floating effect for the remaining, visible 3/8" edge of the top and a handsome shadow line continuing around the table.
The top is fashioned out of a full, solid 3/4" walnut board as is the lower shelf. The lower shelf is visibly pegged at its ends (see detail image) and also has an undercut edge so that a slim 1/2" is all that shows. These pictured tables are all solid walnut with traditional mortise and tenon construction and a hand-rubbed oil wax finish on all but the top, which is sprayed with a durable satin conversion varnish.
These tables could be recreated in various other woods, finishes and dimensions. Please contact me to discuss and order. -
