Coffee table by Enrico Ciuti, produced by Cassina in the 1950s. The supporting structure is in dark Italian walnut and the base is in Pakistani onyx.
Enrico Ciuti (born in Milan in 1910, died in Lugano, Switzerland, in 1991) was a multifaceted figure in the field of Italian art and design in the 20th century.
He is also known for his work as a graphic designer and exhibition designer for leading Italian companies and for his collaborations with magazines such as Domus and L’Ufficio Moderno, for which he also designed covers. Among other things, he created the famous Lanerossi brand.
His work was characterised by formal and material research ranging from constructivism to influences from Neoplasticism and the Bauhaus School, combining structural rigour and functional requirements with imaginative solutions. He also had a brief collaboration with Figli di Amedeo Cassina between 1948 and 1955 for the creation of furniture. -
