Description
Exceptional Secretary Desk in Mahogany, Walnut, Ebony and Brass Early 20th Century
This unique desk is one of the most exceptional pieces of furniture we have ever seen. Truly museum worthy.
An early 20th century European cabinetmaker secretary desk in mahogany, walnut, ebony and inlaid brass. Exceptional quality all over, made by a master craftsman using only the best materials and techniques. Just look at those ebony handles, the magnificent brass inlay work, the intricate carvings on the frame and the beautifully mirrored veneers on the doors. Please also note the asymmetrical design of the top part of the desk - making it playful and unusual.
But the bliss doesn’t end there - not only the top part of this secretary desk features wonderful details, also the base of this desk is of exceptional quality. The ball feet, the intricate carvings, the Japanese or Asian inspired stretchers and the wonderful ribbed inside are all mesmerizingly beautiful details.
A timeless and very interesting design featuring classical, art deco and modernist elements - intricate details and subtle Asian influences. Comes from a very high end estate and has been in two families only.
All in all this is a highly unique and one-off example of exquisite early 20th century furniture making.
