Description
A well proportioned low table made of walnut and burl walnut veneer (bookmatched). Made by, the father of French Modernism, Francis Jourdain (1876 - 1958), circa 1925. France. The table is stamped, Francis Jourdain” on underneath of table. There is also a decal with the name, Besnard, written on the underneath of the table. Albert Besnard (1849 - 1934) was a French artist who was friends and a colleague of Jourdain. Jourdain must have given the table to Besnard. There is an image of a portrait that Besnard painted of Jourdain.
