Description
A magnificent solid walnut wood table with a gorgeous beveled crystal top with sandblasted frosted bands by Italian designer Franco Poli for Bernini in 1979. Its architectural frame is a piece of art and Franco Poli clearly applied the style for which he is so known for. Envision the table to be as big as a building and how impressive that would be. The proportions could very well make that possible.
Design
Let’s look at the frame that has such a striking and luxurious appearance because of the use of walnut, applied in a Bernini manner. The four solid legs carry a double beam that runs over the entire length of the frame and sticks out on both sides. Resulting in an extra layer and dynamic perspective seen from every angle. The beams are held in place by respectively two Allen bolts through each leg. Those are connected to two pieces on each outer side of the leg. In the middle of the frame, there is another wooden connection, decorated with the beautiful Bernini monogram. Another refined aspect is the placement of the dark dots as a beautiful overall embellishment. The four ebony thorns on the top of each leg carry the imposing crystal top. This top is decorated with two decorative etched bands and those bands are merely interrupted by those taking ebony points. A very refined choice that is totally in harmony with the overall style of the table.
Condition
The frame shows a couple of marks and scratches but is not affecting its radiating look in any way whatsoever. The crystal table top has no chips, however some scratches. -
