French 19th Century Butcher’s Presentation Table
-
Description
Dimensions: 30 ½” H x 52 ⅛” W x 31 ⅜” D
A dramatic French marble and iron work table from the 19th century, that would have been a display fixture in a butcher shop or bakery to present the current offerings. The thick, white marble slab has wispy gray veining throughout, finished with a smooth, honed surface and rounded edges and is tinged to saffron-toned patina. Like many butcher’s tables of similar style, this example has a trough carved around the perimeter for liquids to drain into. The cast iron base features an ornate apron of dense, stylized Neoclassical foliate motifs suspended over exaggerated scrolls for legs. These historic details have been preserved and emphasized by a recent powder coat in a glossy shade of red somewhere between oxblood (appropriately) and maroon. Cleaned and restored, this former butcher shop table is a practical addition for a home bar, kitchen, greenhouse, or patio. Please view the detailed images to see more. -
