French 19th Century Empire Desk
-
Description
Emanate professionality from behind this stunning Empire-style mahogany desk, made in France during the 1800’s. The desk is topped in beautifully tooled worn gold leather. The desk’s work surface can be enlarged with a pull of either slide that is housed in the desk’s sides. Both slides have been inset with gold-tooled green leather. The table has four drawers: one central above the kneehole, two to its left and one to the right. They all have working locks that have their keyholes embellished with cast brass escutcheons. Keeping with the Empire style, the desk has four legs that are fashioned like columns. These columns are complete with cast brass capitals and bases. They terminate at a shaped stretcher that joins all four legs. Center drawer knee clearance is 24-¾”H. Three keys are included. Finish has recently been professionally restored. Make sure to view the detailed images for a closer look.
