A midcentury oval bronze and smoked glass sectional dining table labelled made in Italy in the 1970s.
According to the Crespi Estate this is a Gabriella Design that was pirated from the studio and produced without her permission.
The table was merchandised at very visible department stores including Bloomingdale's in New York and Harrods of London and their equivalents in Paris.
the Archives have written to us that this table is illegally reproduced from an original Gabriella Crespi artwork.
The archives are hoping to track down the origin of the pieces and have asked if sellers can provide any information about provenance that can assist them.
The lawyers for the estate would not allow this table to be listed as in the style of Gabriella Crespi which seems a bit unusual.
The glass inserts are bevelled and fit into the upper and lower framing. The glass is reversed in several of the photos to show the bevelled profile of the glass, (see images #3 #6, #7, and #11).
The table separates into 4 freestanding sections and may be configured as a circular 43" diameter table or a square 43" table with half round servers or an oval 66" table with a single serving table or a 88" oval dining table to comfortably seat four, six or eight guests
The dimensions of the four sections are:
two rectangles - 22" L x 43.5" D x 28.5" H,
two half rounds - 22" x 43.5" D x 28.5" H.The matching set of eight dining chairs shown in the last image is listed separately.
The table is in excellent condition consistent with age and gentle use.
