Finest Quality Gillows of Lancaster, Rosewood Crossbanded Sofa Table. Very much in the tradition of the Sheraton Style of the Period which emphasises clean lines and the use of high quality timbers.
Would suit the serious collector looking to upgrade. Interesting fact that in 1803 Broughton Hall Yorkshire purchased same for 28.9 shillings and 5 pence.

Literature: English Country Houses by Christopher Hussy page 97 ... reference to two sofa tables at Broughton Hall furnished by Gillows for the Captain Steven Tempest - one with gaming drawer and other identical to ours.

Excellent condition ... possibility of change to the drawer handles which are very correct and in keeping with the style. Note the original surface with perfect patina . See Norman Adams 18th Century Furniture on the priority of patina over all other aspects in equating importance whilst forming collections.
