Description
This rare small console table was produced in Italy in the 1930s and is attributed to Gio Ponti.
The elegant design is characterized by refined grissinato (reeded) detailing, visible along the legs, sides, and apron, creating a rhythmic architectural effect typical of Italian modernist design. The rectangular top is finished in richly figured burl veneer, offering a striking contrast to the warm walnut structure.
The table features two discreet side drawers, seamlessly integrated beneath the top. A brass stretcher bar connects the two pedestal supports.
With its compact and refined proportions, this piece is ideally suited for use in an entryway or hallway, as a larger side table, or as an elegant accent piece in a living room or bedroom. A rare and refined example of 1930s Italian design, combining elegance, craftsmanship, and architectural presence.
The table is in good and completely original condition with minor signs of wear consistent with age and use. -
