The foldable desk, designed by Jorge Zalszupin and crafted by his own company L’Atelier, showcases innovative use of Brazilian hardwood in patchwork style. This method, characterized by a collage of various rosewood pieces with distinct tones, reflects Zalszupin's commitment to efficiency and creativity in utilizing leftover wood scraps from the factory.
A center slat, upholstered in faux leather, enhances stability while adding a touch of refinement to the desk's design. The original L’Atelier seal underneath the tabletop authenticates its provenance and craftsmanship. Remarkably, the desk can be folded effortlessly in three simple steps, underscoring its practicality and versatility for various spaces and needs.

About the Designer:
Jorge Zalszupin was a Brazilian architect and furniture designer who was born in Poland in 1922. He moved to Brazil in the 1950s and quickly became known for his innovative furniture designs that blended elements of European modernism with Brazilian warmth and tropical materials.
Finally, Zalszupin's influence on the Brazilian design community has helped to shape a unique design aesthetic that continues to inspire designers around the world. Zalszupin's work was characterized by clean lines, bold shapes, and a playful use of color, and he created many iconic pieces of furniture that are still popular today. In addition, his furniture is known for its high quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, which results in pieces that are both beautiful and durable.
Zalszupin's furniture continues to be highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts around the world, and his influence can be seen in the work of many contemporary designers who continue to draw inspiration from his innovative and playful approach to modern design. Zalszupin passed away in 2020 at the age of 98. -
