Louis XVI period console

An exceptional French Louis XVI period console table dating to the 18th century, retaining its original lacquer and superb original grey veined marble top. The finely carved wooden base features an elegant pierced apron decorated with delicate foliate motifs. Four fluted legs, each surmounted by a carved capital, provide the classic architectural refinement associated with the Louis XVI period. The legs are joined by shaped stretchers centered by a decorative cassolette, adding balance and distinction to the composition. The original grey marble displays beautiful natural veining and complements the softly aged lacquered finish. Presented in good antique condition, with character consistent with its age and history. This refined console comes from a château in northern France and represents an elegant example of late 18th-century French craftsmanship.
