Description
A fine quality mahogany tripod tea table in the manner of Thomas Chippendale, the top being of an extraordinary piece of "plum pudding" mahogany having a plain stem on carved legs terminating in scroll toes. The reasons for aligning this table to Chippendale's workshop are several. Chippendale is known to have used special timber cuts for the tops of his tea tables as this top has an almost translucent quality. Secondly, the legs of the table are molded in a non-traditional fashion and finally, the feet echo Chippendale's continued innovatory styling with the pronounced scrolling resting on a pad.
