Description
Art Deco round coffee table attributed to Maison Dominique, France, circa 1930. Executed in blond burr walnut veneer, the table is composed as a pure 31‑inch diameter drum resting on a cylindrical base, articulated by three vertical quarter‑circle supports that frame an open lower tier for books or decorative objects. At 17 inches high, its low, modern stance, geometric rigor and emphasis on lavish burl figuring rather than applied ornament are characteristic of Maison Dominique’s restrained, architectural approach to Art Deco furnishing. A period black‑and‑white interior photograph of a Maison Dominique salon documents a closely related model with the same drum profile and recessed shelf, supporting this attribution. Recently restored and French‑polished, the surface shows a warm, luminous patina with minor, expected traces of age consistent with careful use.
