Description
The Danish designer, E. W. Bach is primarily known for his sideboard designs, although his table designs are not only visually distinctive, but also very rare. This is especially true for this rare “Model 66” coffee table.
The combination of the beautiful rosewood tabletop and the chromed steel frame creates the modern look that Danish Mid-Century design is coveted for. The wood has a beautiful pattern and grain. The rectangular, veneered top is supported by the legs that are the stand-out visual feature of this model. Each rosewood leg is supported between the steel frames and are secured by visible bolts. Thanks to the wooden top, this table has the perfect balance between organic and modern materials.
This table was manufactured by the Danish company, Møbelfabrikken Toften, who created Bach’s other table designs as well. This particular model was retailed at the illustrious shop, Edmund Jørgensens Boligmontering in Nakskov during the 1950s and 1960s. Edmund Jørgensen's furniture company started in 1936 and opened his first furniture store in 1942. The table is marked with the manufacturer’s label. ~H.
