Absolutely beautiful pair of French marquetry pillar commodes/ side tables from the period in France around 1870. An amazing crafted pair of small 19th century transitional mahogany commodes, perfectly restored, impressing with its one of a kind marquetry works. The exceptional "grid" design which can be seen on both sides as well as on the front was elaborately made with fine maple wood and is highlighted by small cherry dots. Providing a small drawer and a door, this extraordinary pair of transitional pillar commodes is an absolute eye-catcher. The one of a kind beige/ yellow marble plates with pink/brown veins on top, artfully brass applications on the feet and drawers/ doors in combination with the gorgeous designed pilasters with inlayed maple threads confer this transitional style commodes/ side tables a real noble appearance. The surface has been sealed with a traditional hand polished shellac finish.
