Philip and Kelvin LaVerne operated as artist-furniture makers creating one of a kind and limited-edition pieces, often re-interpreting classical chinoiserie designs, as seen here in the Chan coffee table. The technique used by the father-son creators was based on centuries-old bronze casting methods which they then tweaked to give each piece its own distinctive patina. Philip liked to refer to their pieces as “functional art”.
