Pair Of Mid Century resin toppe tables attributed to Pierre Giraudon (1923-2012)

$ 8,900
  • Description
    Pair of chrome framed resin topped tables attributed to Pierre Giraudon. The resin tops fit neatly into the frames. These well sized side tables are an unusual colour which makes them contemporary in feel.
    Pierre Giraudon was born in 1923. In the 1940s, while working as a biologist in Canada, he was the first to use products of his own invention to include plants, animals and other materials in resin for academic purposes. He returned to France in 1949 and began to work with this material for his own pleasure, adding his own artistic touches. As he became more and more proficient with this material, he gradually turned it into works of art. During the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s he created sculptures, lamp bases and objects in coloured resin with or without inclusions; in parallel with his personal creations he worked for César. Nevertheless, Giraudon always refused to be called an artist because he considered himself above all a biologist. He died in 2012.
