Description
This elegant 1960s adjustable rolling cart by Danish designer Poul Hundevad exemplifies the refined craftsmanship and versatility of mid-century Scandinavian design. Constructed in richly grained teak, the piece features three graduated shelves supported by rounded corner posts that lend a sense of sculptural balance. The top shelf is ingeniously designed in two sections, allowing it to slide and unfold to an impressive 150 cm (59 inches) when expanded — transforming the cart into a generous serving or bar surface.
Each shelf is framed by softly raised edges that add visual rhythm while preventing items from slipping during movement. The cart rolls smoothly on its original solid brass casters, whose warm gleam complements the teak’s rich tone. The finish has developed a deep, even patina over time, reflecting both the quality of the wood and the care with which the piece has been preserved.
Hundevad’s designs for Hundevad & Co. represent the Danish modern ideal — furniture that is at once beautiful, functional, and built to endure. This adaptable cart serves equally well as a bar trolley, serving table, or media stand, making it a versatile addition to any living or dining space.
