Description
Atkris Studio presents a coffee table that balances architectural clarity with organic movement. Its form feels carved rather than constructed, allowing material and silhouette to lead the composition. This is a piece where structure becomes sculpture.
Design
An undulating base in solid travertine supports a free-form glass top, creating a dialogue between weight and transparency. The stone has been carved into a flowing, almost ribbon-like profile, with gentle curves and recessed planes that shift subtly depending on the viewing angle. Travertine, long favoured in Italian modernist interiors of the 1970s and 1980s, lends the table a sense of permanence. The softly honed surface reveals natural pores and tonal variations, ranging from warm ivory to sandy beige. Resting above, the thick glass top follows an asymmetric contour, echoing the movement of the base beneath.
The composition recalls the sculptural experiments of postmodern Italian design, where geometry softened and materials were celebrated in their most honest state. Placed in a seating area, the table functions as a central anchor; in a gallery-like interior, it reads as a standalone object.
Condition
The condition is very good, with minor signs of use consistent with age. The travertine shows natural irregularities inherent to the material, and the glass top remains well preserved with light surface wear. -
