Description
A refined example of Sergio Rodrigues’ architectural restraint, the “Yara” side tables distill structure, proportion, and material integrity into a compact yet powerful form. Designed in the 1960s, each table is executed in richly grained Brazilian jacarandá (rosewood), showcasing deep tonal variation and expressive natural veining — hallmarks of the most desirable Brazilian Modern production.
The composition is defined by its clean vertical supports, subtly rounded edges, and exposed hardware, emphasizing clarity of construction. A recessed circular pull drawer integrates seamlessly into the front elevation, while a lower open shelf reinforces the piece’s functional versatility. The original glass top floats lightly within the frame, introducing transparency that contrasts beautifully with the warmth and density of the hardwood.
Rodrigues’ genius lies in balancing solidity with lightness: the tables feel grounded yet visually open, making them equally suited as bedside tables or sculptural side tables in a living environment. Professionally refined to a satin-matte finish, the jacarandá reveals depth and character without excessive gloss.
Excellent vintage condition, consistent with age and use.
A highly collectible pair from one of the most influential figures in Brazilian Modernism — where material honesty and architectural clarity converge in enduring form. -
