English Mahogany Inlaid Birdseye Maple Occasional Table by Seddons, circa 1840

    A C R O T E R I O N is pleased to offer this rare circa 1840, English early Victorian, late regency style occasional table or stand by the renowned London firm of Seddons, the circular top with birdseye maple and mahogany double border banding and center neoclassical anthemion pattern marquetry atop turned pedestal joining concave triform platform base with carved rosettes and reeding raised upon shaped bun feet. The underside with original label reading 'Manufacturers To Her Majesty. T. & G. Seddon, No. 3157 (handwritten), Gray's Inn Road, London.', and handwritten name of either the craftsman or client (indecipherable), as well as double stamped 'T. & G. Seddon' beneath a crown either side of pedestal on support rail.
