Description
Colorful and visually appealing , this is a Nautical Flag also known as International Maritime Flags Link Bracelet that depicts the entire alphabet from A to Z and numbers 0 to 9. Made by Benzie of Cowes, Jewelers to the Royal Family, it is signed with hallmarks , marked England .375 indicating 9 ct. gold. Often used for enamel work , 9 carat gold was considered harder and more durable than higher carat gold which is more malleable. The symbols of the nautical flags were used by those at sea to signal a message from one vessel to another...S.O.S. or Man Overboard! Each flag denoting a letter of the alphabet also signified individual messages . Just for fun, check out www.anbg.gov.au for some of the meanings...Fun and intriguing! Measuring 7.5 inches long by 1/2 inches wide, it is extremely comfortable to wear. Weight is 11.8 dwt
