Unique silver pendant with a Roman elephant, mounted on a modern silver necklace.
A real designer jewel signed Gabriela Sismann with an original archeological artifact.

Inspiration: “There are very few representations of elephants in marble or bronze, in Roman animal art. In mosaic, more. This atypical object, neither in relief nor in round hump, has been authenticated as Roman by some specialists. A very elementary engraving draws the trunk, the eyes and the nose. Attracted by the strangeness of the play, Gabriela immediately imagined another mythical journey than Homer’s Odyssey: Hannibal’s Crossing the Alps. This motif of the elephant evokes him more personally his stay in India, a real initiatory and founding journey, a country in which this sacred animal brings good luck. A plate takes up the silhouette of the elephant like a Chinese shadow while a ring welded on the same plate presents a stick clasp chain. Once again, the designer focuses on the object and comes to sublimate it. She recalls that she does not want to permeate the montage: she tries to disappear to highlight the piece. She considers herself above all as a facilitator: as in the gallery, she discovers the work, comes to enrich it and highlights it.”
