Thomasville Furniture Industries, once a prominent furniture manufacturer headquartered in Thomasville, North Carolina, had an extensive presence with dedicated galleries in over 400 retail furniture stores. Additionally, there were 30 exclusive Thomasville Home Furnishing stores that exclusively carried products from the company. From 1995, Thomasville Furniture Industries had operated as a subsidiary of Furniture Brands International, based in Clayton, Missouri. However, in 2013, Heritage Home Group acquired the majority of Furniture Brands International's assets, leading to the announcement that Thomasville Furniture would cease its operations in 2014, marking the conclusion of an era for the industry in the city.

Thomasville Cabinetry, a product crafted by MasterBrand Cabinets, Inc., a division of Fortune Brands Home and Security (FBHS), continued the legacy. Manufactured at various North American facilities, Thomasville Cabinetry was exclusively sold through The Home Depot. Notably, manufacturers like Schrock Cabinetry of Illinois produced cabinets with the Thomasville Cabinetry brand, available at The Home Depot.

The iconic Big Chair, an 18-foot reproduction of a Duncan Phyfe design, has been a symbol of Thomasville's chair-making success since its first erection in 1922 (rebuilt in 1951). It remains a cherished landmark in the town square, embodying the mutual success of the chair company and the town, fondly known as "Chair City."

The history of Thomasville Furniture dates back to its establishment in 1904 as the Thomasville Chair Company, initially producing 500 to 1000 chairs daily. In 1907, Thomas Jefferson Finch and Charles F. Finch, residents of Randolph County, acquired the company. Over the years, the company's growth included the acquisition of Lambeth Furniture in 1932 and the merger with B.F. Huntley Furniture in 1961, forming Thomasville Furniture Industries.

The company went through various ownership changes, including becoming part of Armstrong World Industries in 1968, and eventually being sold to Interco (later Furniture Brands International) in 1995. In 2011, Thomasville Furniture Industries relocated its showroom space from Thomasville to the International Home Furnishings Center.

The significant changes continued in 2014 when Heritage Home Group, the new owner, announced the cessation of all operations on March 21. This decision resulted in the loss of 84 jobs in Thomasville. Despite the closure, Heritage Home Group established its presence in the city while working on its planned High Point headquarters.

In 2017, Heritage Home Group announced a reorganization into three groups, with Thomasville & Co. encompassing the Thomasville, Drexel, and Henredon brands. Subsequently, plans were made to sell Thomasville & Co. as a whole. On August 31, 2018, Authentic Brands Group of New York City, known for acquiring struggling businesses, submitted a bid for the acquisition of Thomasville & Co.
