A pair of painted beech wood Louis XVI armchairs (Fauteuils)
French, late eighteenth century
Size: 35” high x 23” wide x 20” deep (88.9 X 58.42 X 50.8 cm.)
A very finely carved pair of painted beech wood arm chairs with a rectangular shaped back with carved urn finials joined by acanthus leaf carved and padded arm rests supported by fluted uprights above a padded seat with dentil and beaded carved apron, flanked by applied paterae over tapered fluted legs resting on toupie feet. -
