Francois-Xavier Lalanne (1927-2008) was a French sculptor and artist, best known for his whimsical and imaginative animal sculptures. He was born in Agen, France, and studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
 
Lalanne's sculptures often featured animals such as sheep, cows, and rhinoceroses, and were designed to be both playful and functional.
