Pierre Chareau

French, 1883 - 1950
Pierre Chareau (1883 - 1950) was a French designer and architect. Born in Bourdeaux, France, Chareau studied at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts  in Paris at age 17. Chareau is credited with building France's first house made of steel and glass-known as the Maison de Verre. Noted for his complex designs, Chareau abandoned classic lampshades and focused on alabaster panels. Pierre Chareau lighting & furniture remain popular today.
