Durand Glass, also known as J.G. Durand, is a historic French glass company founded in Arques, France, with roots dating back to 1825. Under the leadership of Georges Durand and later his son Jacques, the company revolutionized glassmaking by introducing innovative production techniques, including automated crystal stemware manufacturing in 1968. This innovation helped make fine crystal accessible worldwide and established iconic brands such as Cristal d’Arques, Luminarc, and Arcoroc. By the late 20th century, Durand expanded globally, opening the Durand Glass Manufacturing Company in New Jersey and acquiring prestigious brands like Mikasa and Salviati. Today, known as Arc International, the company remains a leader in tableware and crystal production, celebrated for its elegant, high-quality designs that blend French craftsmanship with modern technology.
