Description
Richmond Barth is an African American sculptor, a member of the Harlen Renaissance. He is considered the first African American modern sculptor. His works are held in The Whitney, The Met, The Smithsonian and The Art Institute of Chicago. "Detail of Dance" was executed in 1939. The subject is Gypsy Rose Lee. This sculpture came from the estate of Gypsy Rose Lee, a friend and patron.
