Description
This exceptional four-piece Italian dining table exemplifies the refined engineering and glamorous modernism of 1970s design. Constructed for the international luxury market, the table features a substantial brass framework arranged in an elongated oval, divided into four independent modular sections. Each section contains multiple beveled bronze-tinted glass insets, creating a sophisticated interplay of transparency, reflection, and sculptural geometry.
Ingeniously designed for transport and installation, each frame breaks down fully: all vertical brass supports unscrew cleanly, and every one of the four bases can be separated into its component parts. Despite this versatility, the assembled table is impressively stable, with precision metalwork that reflects the high craftsmanship associated with top-tier Italian production of the period.
Created specifically for export, the model was sold through prestigious retailers such as Bloomingdale’s, Harrods, and select European department stores during the late 1970s. The tonal combination of warm brass and smoked bronze glass gives the piece a luxurious, balanced presence suitable for both contemporary interiors and vintage-inspired spaces.
Its generous scale—88 inches wide (assembled from four 22-inch sections), 43.5 inches deep, and 28.5 inches high, with a 43.5-inch visual diameter across the oval—makes it ideal as a dining table, statement conference table, or sculptural centerpiece in a curated environment.
Condition is excellent, with minimal, age-appropriate signs of use to the brass and glass elements. A rare and sophisticated example of Italian 1970s craftsmanship, notable for its modularity, breakdown construction, and refined visual impact. -
