Award-winning designer Philip Mitchell has made a name for himself by creating strikingly beautiful living spaces that complement the unique personalities and lifestyles of each client. His approach is contemporary with a distinctive, casually elegant layered style. His first book, “Collected Interiors – Rooms That Tell a Story” published by Rizzoli, reveals his remarkable talent designing homes that blend collections of all kinds, from family heirlooms and contemporary art to modern accessories and decorative antiques, in visually creative environments that are brimming with personality, color, memories, and warmth.
Renowned for his passion and energy, designer Philip Mitchell’s almost encyclopedic knowledge of design, architecture, art, textiles and historical reference, makes his design process on projects of any scale an unforgettable journey that clients all over the world crave. The client's personality and own style emerge, resulting in warm, inviting, comfortable living spaces; interiors that combine form, function and balance with a gracefully edited selection of fine furnishings, art and accessories.
He has been twice selected as one of the Top 100 Designers of the World by Andrew Martin Awards and continuously named one of the Top 25 Designers by House & Home Magazine. His passion for restoration has been recognized with numerous historic preservation awards and he has been invited twice to participate in the Kips Bay Decorator Show House. Philip’s work has been widely celebrated in magazines, newspapers, books and online, including Architectural Digest, Veranda, House Beautiful, Galerie Magazine, Traditional Home, House & Home, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and the Globe & Mail.
PHILIP MITCHELL established his eponymous design firm in 2002, Philip Mitchell Design Inc. and now has studios located in Toronto, New York City, and on the east coast of Canada.
