Sold Sold
  • Description
A Tiffany & Co. Sterling silver and 18K gold pill box in the shape of a miniature Doctor's Bag, designed and made by Karel Bartosik. Signed Tiffany & Co., KTB and London Hallmarks for sterling silver and 750 (for 18 k gold) , c. 1988. The pill box is a detailed miniature replica of a doctor's bag, with its surface embossed to look like leather and embellished with 18 k gold used to represent the suitcase hardware and handle. Absolutely incredibly detailed workmanship, the handle even moves! Although Bartosik was born in England of Czech and Dutch parents, he lived in Czechoslovakia from 1946 to 1967. When he moved back to England he worked for renown jeweler Andrew Grima in London and later had his own studio while teaching at the Royal College of Art. His work is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum, in South Kensington, London.
