Description
Known as Chauve-Souris, Rene Lalique's glass bat is shown here encased in a silver frame with an Art Nouveau chain that has fancy links that reiterate the shape of the flying bat. The iridescent glass bat is UNSIGNED but is well documented in several R. Lalique sources including Felix Marcilhac's tome. Marked SILVER under back of bracket.
Overall, excellent condition but there is a minute defect (less than 1 mm and undetectable with naked eye) located between the bat's tail and the right foot. You can just about make it out in the last photo. The beautiful chain measures 27.5 inches long without the pendant. Bat measures 2" wide by 1" high. Did you know that bats are good luck symbols in Asian culture?
For those who are Bat lovers, this one is exceptional... -
