“Luther During the Storm,” 1981 Framed Grisaille Pastel Diptych by Mark Milloff
-
Description
In Mark Milloff’s diptych,”Luther During The Storm,” 1981 the artist masterfully uses pastel on paper to merge form and content. At first glance, undulating, gradient shades of gray together with writhing white lines depict a turbulent storm, the sky pierced with electrically charged streaks of peach lightning. Upon closer examination the Silhouette of a dog, emerges from the tempest from which he is visually enveloped. This work on paper is newly framed in greige, grained wood. Provenance: The Atlantic Richfield Company.
