Rare Don S. Shoemaker side table in excellent condition! Signed. Don Shoemaker was an American furniture designer and craftsman who lived from 1912 to 1990. He was known for his use of tropical hardwoods such as rosewood, granadillo, and cocobolo, which he incorporated into his mid-century modern furniture designs. Shoemaker was born in Nebraska and later moved to Mexico, where he founded the furniture company Señal in the 1950s. His designs were heavily influenced by the Bauhaus movement and he is considered to be one of the most important mid-century modern furniture designers in Mexico. His furniture is highly sought after by collectors and is known for its sleek, elegant design and high-quality craftsmanship.
